I was so excited to take the impromptu trip to Lyon, France🇫🇷. Not only was it a new city to visit, but it’s also the home of my new goddaughter, Leona🦁.
Unfortunately my first flight ✈️ was delayed, which made me miss my connecting flight by 5min, resulting in having to wait 2hrs to take the next flight to Lyon. When I finally arrived in Lyon, the first thing I saw was their amazing airport, Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport.
As singers, we are often faced with many challenges in order to do our best. I made it as a finalist in Weikersheim, but the journey to get there was intense! First I flew from Los Angeles to Vienna which was a 20hr+ journey, then after a day in Vienna, I took a 7hr train trip from Vienna to Weikersheim. I spent 2 days there prior to my audition to have time to relax and adjust. The night before I only got 3hrs sleep and woke up bright and early at 4am the morning of my audition😳. While my voice felt in food shape, my body felt weak and my head was in a daze. Even though I put a lot of energy into giving my best performance, unfortunately it was not my best.
I’ve had such a wonderful 2018! I made my role debut as Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte where I was partnered with the renowned La Scala basso buffo, Bruno Praticò, as Don Alfonso at the Teatro del Pavone in Perugia, Italy. Within a couple of days, I made my role debut as Musetta in Puccini’s La bohème with the Opernspiele Munot in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. In addition, I’ve done a lot of traveling for both work and pleasures including: Cabo, Chicago, Prague, Sorrento, Varna as well as traveling to 3 new countries: Cyprus, Portugal and Serbia. I then ended the year by joining the roster of Vox International Artists for worldwide representation. Watch this 1min video to see my year in review: Lisa Algozzini – Looking Back on 2018.
