The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another…and leave us with the feeling that something is right in the world.” Leonard Bernstein
Even though our second show was canceled due to coronavirus, I’m happy that I was at least able to do my role debut as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and do the premiere of the show. As I wait to see if our shows in May are on or off, it’s very nice to get this positive review by Josef Herman featured in the Czech theater magazine, Divadelní noviny. The photo they used of me in the article maybe is not the most flattering, but I love this photo so much since it really reflects the personality of Elvira perfectly! An ideal role for the small, very powerful Lisa Algozzini who plays a poignant character with precise singing.” -Josef Herman, Divadelní noviny (14. April 2020)
….[Barsoumian] together with Algozzini are the foundation of the production and are the new discoveries here.” -Josef Herman, Divadelní noviny (14. April 2020)
Our coronavirus number of new cases goes lower than they were on March 13th, days before the lockdown even happened. The city will start to open cautiously on April 14th. As a result, I believed it would be safe to visit my 16-month-old goddaughter and my “2nd family” for Easter a bit outside of Vienna. It was so amazing to see a holiday through a child’s eye and to socialize with my friends out in their garden…one of those simple things we have missed during this quart. I cherish these moments!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the SoCal Vocalist Relief Fund and donors for their generous financial support during this difficult time! I’m very grateful! They managed to raise funds to partially cover the fee from my recent performance that was unfortunately canceled due to the coronavirus on March 20th. Freelance artists don’t get paid if the show is canceled. There is already so much uncertainty financially for artists. Please consider donating to me or donate to the SoCal Vocalist Relief Fund.
